Lakewood To Close Dog Parks For Improvements This Week

Both parks at Fort Steilacoom Park will be closed for one day this week as the crews tidy up and repair loose ends.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Dog owners may see their plans interrupted by a pair of closures at Lakewood dog parks this week.

According to the city, crews have been contracted to work on both of the dog parks at Fort Steilacoom Park.

The smaller park is set to be closed Tuesday, while the larger park will be closed Wednesday.

Normally, the two parks offer a combined 22 acres of off-leash doggy heaven. The city says the parks opened in 2006. Since then, they've won a number of awards, including being named the Best Dog Park in the South Sound by South Sound Magazine.
