Lakewood Nonprofit Offering Coronavirus Rental Assistance
Lakewood renters are eligible to receive up to $1,500 in assistance to help them keep their homes during the pandemic.
LAKEWOOD, WA — Applications are now open for struggling Lakewood residents who need help to pay their rent during the coronavirus pandemic.
The program is run through the Living Access Support Alliance, or LASA, a community-supported nonprofit. The Lakewood City Council has awarded LASA just over $400,000 in CARES Act funding to help pay rent for local households in need.
To receive the emergency funding, applicants must:

- Live inside Lakewood city limits and rent their homes, with their name on the rental agreement or lease
- Have lost household income due to the pandemic on March 12th or later
- Have a combined household income of $60,000 per year or less. This equates out to $5000 each month.
Interested renters can apply through this form on LASA's website. Selected applicants will be eligible to receive up to $1,500 in rental assistance, to be paid directly to their landlords. The city estimates that the money they've set aside for the program will be able to help around 175 local households.
