Lakewood Police Blood Drive Still Has Space For Donors

The Cascade Regional Blood Services Bus will be at Lakewood Police Department headquarters May 13th for a community blood drive event.

LAKEWOOD, WA — The Lakewood Police Department is hoping to find nearly two dozen more blood donors for a blood drive later this week.

As part of Law Enforcement Memorial Week, the police department has set up a blood drive Thursday at their headquarters at 9401 Lakewood Dr. SW. The drive will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As of their latest update, Monday, the police department still has space to fit in 19 more donors. If you're interested in giving blood, you can learn more about the event or register to take one of those slots by visiting Cascade Regional Blood Services' event page.

The need for blood is especially bad right now. Late last month, Bloodworks Northwest announced a "Code Red" blood shortage, with less than a 24-hour supply on hand at any given time.

If you're interested in giving but can't make Lakewood PD's event, there are also several upcoming Red Cross blood drives in Pierce County.
