Major Steilacoom Boulevard Construction Project Begins Next Month
Though there will be no full closures, the city says to expect delays in the area for most of the summer.
LAKEWOOD, WA — Drivers in Lakewood will want to plan ahead for a major construction project on Steilacoom Boulevard beginning next month.
Starting June 1, crews will need to cut Steilacoom to one lane each direction between Custer and Weller.
The construction is part of a $4.93 million project to widen Steilacoom Boulevard that started back in April 2020. The overlay was finished last summer, but this second phase will involve the installation of a new curb, gutter and sidewalk.
