More Snow On The Way Tuesday, Wednesday

The Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes might be marred by snowfall, according to forecasts.

LAKEWOOD, WA - It's time to face the truth: unless you're driving a snowmobile or Sno-Cat, Puget Sound residents are not great snow drivers. There were countless fender benders and some serious accidents - including an 8-car pileup Friday night along I-5 near Renton - over the past few days.

And we're not out of the (snowy) woods yet. The National Weather Service forecast is calling for snow after 4 p.m. Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. The chance of snow increases overnight hours, but should give way to rain by Wednesday afternoon.

Here's the NWS forecast for Pierce County for the next 24 hours:

Wednesday Night: Rain likely, mainly after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 37. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Some of the best tips for driving in the snow, even if you have a Subaru or snow tires, are pretty obvious: accelerate and brake slowly to keep traction, don't speed, and let inertia carry you up hills.

Better yet, avoid driving up hills if you can, as this video demonstrates:
