PHOTO: Retired Army General Visits Joint Base Lewis-McChord

Retired Army Gen. David D. McKiernan paid a visit to Joint Base Lewis-McChord on Tuesday.

U.S. Army Maj. Ryan McCormack, the 17th Fires Brigade operations officer, briefed Retired Army Gen. David D. McKiernan on a live, virtual and constructive training initiative during his visit to Joint Base Lewis-McChord on March 19, 2013.

The retired four-star general joined the Army in 1972 and has commanded the 1st Battalion, 35th Armor, 1st Armored Division; 1st Cavalry Division; 3rd U.S. Army/Combined Forces Land Component Command; the 7th Army/U.S. Army Europe; and the International Security Assistance Force/U.S. Forces Afghanistan, according to the U.S. Army website.

He retired in July, 2009.
