Teen Homicide Suspect Arrested, Accused of September Murder

On September 21, a 19-year-old was shot and killed in Tacoma. Now, police say they've captured his 15-year-old killer.

TACOMA, WA — A 15-year-old boy has been arrested, accused of a homicide in Tacoma earlier this fall.

Back on September 21, Tacoma police were called to reports of shots fired on S. 23 Street in Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood. When officers arrived, they found a victim lying on the ground.

The victim, later identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office as 19-year-old Dylan Coolidge, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, but died from his injuries shortly afterwards.

Police say they identified a suspect fairly quickly, but it took weeks to actually find and arrest the accused killer. On September 25, Tacoma Police detectives received a warrant from Pierce County Superior Courts to arrest a 15-year-old suspect on charges of homicide and first degree murder.

It wasn't until November 28 that law enforcement found and arrested their suspect. That's when Pierce County Sheriff's deputies found the suspect near the intersection of 114th and Pacific Avenue, and took him into custody. The 15-year-old has since been booked in the Pierce County Jail. Police say he is being charged for Coolidge's murder, but faces other charges as well.
