Washington Soldier Killed In Afghanistan: DOD
The soldier from Leavenworth, Washington was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

A soldier from Washington supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday, according to the Department of Defense.
The soldier was identified as Sgt. A.S. Jasso, 25, of Leavenworth, Washington. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Sgt. Jasso died from wounds sustained while engaging enemy forces in Afghanistan, according to the DOD.
According to Army officials, Sgt. Jasso was serving as a team leader on his third deployment to Afghanistan at the time of his death.

"Sgt. Jasso was a humble professional who placed the mission first, lived the Ranger Creed and will be deeply missed," Lt. Col. Rob McChrystal, Commander of the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, said in a statement.
A native of Leavenworth, Sgt. Jasso enlisted in the military in Aug. 2012.

His awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge and Expert Rifle Marksmanship Badge.
