West Pierce Fire Offers Free Smoke Alarm Installation In Lakewood

West Pierce Fire says their smoke alarm installation program can help get your home fire-safe in under an hour.

LAKEWOOD, WA — If you live in Lakewood or University Place, West Pierce Fire & Rescue wants to help make sure your home is protected against fires, and are offering to stop by and install new, working fire alarms for anyone who needs one.

The program is totally free, thanks to a recent grant provided to the fire department. West Pierce Fire says carbon monoxide and hearing impaired smoke alarms are also available for installation at no cost.

If you aren't sure if your home needs new smoke alarms, firefighters say to ask yourself three questions:

  • Do I have working smoke alarms?
  • Are they under 10 years old.
  • Are they installed inside and outside every bedroom and on every level?

If you answered no to any of those questions, West Pierce Fire says it's time to give them a call at (253) 983-4583, or fill out an appointment request on their website. The fire department says installation takes just 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the size and needs of your house.
