Where can we get takeout? We have the list!

Local sites have takeout info.

Amidst the chaos created by the pandemic, there are stories of business survival. Our local restaurants and food trucks are fighting to keep their doors open by offering takeout to their customers.

One of the warriors in the fight to help our food trucks is Lori Johnson, Director of the Washington Food Truck Association who is establishing "grab-n-go" food truck locations. Lori informed us that "In Pierce County, our first location will be the Dystopian Brewery, who is partnering with us to offer customers "growlers to go" with one food truck per Friday and Saturday (Thursdays also in the future). There is a great app to find food trucks here: https://streetfoodfinder.com/DystopianBrewing"

In Lakewood the people truly wish to support the Lakewood community and our local restaurants. DiscoverLakewood.com has a great answer. They are already a directory based website which has over 122 food and dining entities. You can now select the ones that are open for takeout as well. It's a great way to support those in the restaurant industries in Lakewood.

One of the Lakewood area restaurants offering takeout is Famous Dave's BBQ which offers 20% off. They are a new Lakewood Chamber member as well. You will love their BBQ as most of America does.

When you are looking for a more expansive list that covers most of Pierce County, leave it to DiscoverJBLM.com which launched last November and has rapidly gained popularity for its ease of finding JBLM area businesses and information those on JBLM may be looking for. Their restaurant list also has Thurston County restaurants and like DiscoverLakewood.com, to find a restaurant that is offering takeout, you just select the takeout tab.

A couple of popular locations on DiscoverJBLM.com which offers takeout is 3uilt (pronounced "Built"), located in the 7 Seas Brewery in Tacoma. Their menu is composed of unique sandwiches, fresh salads, raw oysters, artisan cheese plates & sharable charcuterie boards. Delicious!

For a quick bite, you can always stop at Nisqually Markets in Lakewood. I get my gas their anyways since they have awesome prices. They have hot food with Cooper's Chicken and Skipper's Seafood and they also carry healthy sandwiches and salads. Well worth visiting.

In Thurston County we are addicted to the burgers at Medicine Creek Cafe. Located just South of Joint Base Lewis and McChord in the Nisqually Valley, its a great place to grab a huge burger such as their "West Coast Ranger Burger." This popular burger has 3 beef patties topped with cheese and bacon. It's super huge and even better, they have great prices as a diner.

Restaurants and Food Trucks need your help. If they do not get enough business, they will close down until this pandemic is over and we will not have the opportunity to enjoy the great food that they serve. We hope you can support as many as possible.

Bon appetite.

We are in this together!
