100+ MPH Police Chase Ends In Mercer Island Crash

State police saw the suspect driving at triple-digit speeds in Seattle and chased him to the East Mercer Way I-90 exit.

MERCER ISLAND, WA - Multiple police agencies chased a driver down I-90 at triple-digit speeds early Friday morning. The chase ended when the suspect crashed into a tree near the East Mercer Way exit.

The chase began before 2:30 a.m. in the Mt. Baker tunnel in Seattle. The chase ended a few miles east when the suspect crashed after exiting at East Mercer Way. He then ditched his car and took off on foot.

A K9 unit from Bellevue responded to the scene, and police found the suspect hiding near the French American School. He was found in possession of several pieces of stolen mail from around the area, according to Mercer Island police. He was taken to jail on multiple charges.
