2 Dead After Shooting At Mercer Island Park

MERCER ISLAND, WA — A man and a woman died after a shooting at Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island Saturday morning, but a reason for the shooting was not immediately clear.

Police responded to the park around 11:15 a.m. on a report of a weapons discharge. Officers found two people in a car with gunshot wounds. They were taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment, but died there.

Police did find a gun at the scene, and confirmed that no one else was involved in the shooting.

Mercer Island and Bellevue police were working together to investigate what happened.
