2 Missing After Boat Found Adrift Near Mercer Island
Police believe the boat may have drifted across the lake to Mercer Island. The boat's trailer was found in Renton.
MERCER ISLAND, WA — Authorities were searching for a man and woman whose boat was found adrift near the south end of Mercer Island on Monday night, according to Mercer Island police.
Police responded around 10:30 p.m. to West Mercer Way on a noise complaint. That's where they found the empty boat, with the stereo blaring. Police could tell that people had been on board the boat, likely an adult man and woman.
The boat likely drifted to Mercer Island from the waters off Seattle. But police found a truck and trailer parked at Gene Coulon Park in Renton associated with the boat. The 20-foot boat is a Moomba, a brand typically used to tow water skiers and rafters.
