MERCER ISLAND, WA — Candidate filing week in King County ended on Friday, which means that we now know who's is running for every local office in Mercer Island, King County, the school board, and dozens of local special districts (candidates do have until the end of the day on May 20 to withdraw, however).

Mercer Island will likely see a major change in political leadership by the end of 2019. There are five (out of seven) Council seats up for election, and two of them are open races. One of the incumbents is Lisa Anderl, who was appointed in December to replace Tom Acker.

There are also three school board seats up this year, but only one race has attracted more than one candidate.
