Cars Prowled Overnight Sunday: Mercer Island Police Log

Several residents told Mercer Island Police that their cars were prowled overnight Sunday March 24, including two in the 9300 block of Southeast 57th Street who said that their cars were unlocked overnight.

One resident in the 9300 block of Southeast 57th Street told police that someone went into his unlocked car and took gift cards totalling $200, a Garmin GPS worth $200 and a bank of about 40 keys, worth $100.

Another resident in that same block told police that someone went into her two unlocked cars and took $5.

But a locked vehicle didn't stop a prowler three blocks away. One resident in the 8900 block of Southeast 56th Street told police that someone smashed the tailgate and driver's side rear door windows and took two briefcases containing work documents. Loss: $1,600.
