CERT Search and Rescue at Luther Burbank Beach: Today on Mercer Island

Here's the announcement from the Mercer Island CERT Team, a group of citizen volunteers who've stepped forward to receive emergency preparedness training in order to help their neighborhood:

Please join us Monday, August 5, at the Luther Burbank Park beach* (2040 84th Ave Se Mercer Island, WA 98040) for the CERT Search and Rescue August team meeting.  We will start at 7PM. We’re excited that Marine Patrol Technician Greg Levinson will be providing the training and cover the Marine Patrol and water rescue information. Topics might include use of rope bag for near shore rescue, dealing with bodies in water, care and caution around flowing and still water (flooded basements, broken water mains, etc.).  He’ll also talk about what the professionals do and what the CERT volunteers should not attempt.
