FREE Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 8 Week Group Study Course at the Congregational Church on Mercer Island
Starting June 29th the Congregational Church on Mercer Island invites you to join an 8 week MBSR group study course to improve your health.
What is MBSR?
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction brings together mindfulness meditation and gentle forms of yoga for a relaxing, healing experience. Based on ancient practices, MBSR provides a greater awareness of how unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviors affect your emotional, physical and spiritual health.

Because the mind is a known factor in stress and stress-related disorders, research shows mediation can positively affect a wide range of autonomic physiologica processes, such as lowering blood pressure and improving immune response.
MBSR has also been shown to be valuable for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, chronic pain, ADHD, insomnia, and the distress associated with chronic illness. MBSR can provide greater peace, balance and enthusiasm for life.

The inclusion of yoga helps reerse the negative effects of sitting and a sedentary lifestyle, especially for those with pain and chronic illness.
What is the investment to attend?
While live, certified instructor-led versions of this course typically cost upwards of $300, we will be offering this group study course at no cost. This course uses the 8-week curriculum created by a fully certified MBSR instructor that is available to all, free of charge at Palouse Mindfulness. No MBSR certified instructor will be conducting this series of classes.
During each class, we will view the week's videos and review course matierals together. No prior knowlege or experience with meditation or yoga is required. Taking this class within a group setting provides essential support and the motivation to perfect your personal mindfulness meditation practice.
