Guitar Collection Worth Thousands Stolen in Mercer Tower Apts Burglary — MI Police Blotter
The following information from June 10 - June 17 was supplied by the Mercer Island Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Mercer Island Police say a burglars broke into the Mercer Tower apartment of a 40-year-old man and stole valuables worth several thousands of dollars, including his entire guitar collection.
Police believe the guitars and other valuables were stolen from the apartment, located on the 7500 block of SE 28th Street, sometime between 8:50 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.
The victim suspected his neighbor, a 30-year-old woman who had been evicted on the same day from the complex, had taken his belongings.
In addition to the six guitars, which included a black Epiphone Les Paul and a red Glen Burton Tellcaster, the burglar also took two X-Box video game consoles, a big-screen TV and a laptop computer.

Prowlers Strike Truck in Shorewood
Prowlers broke into an unlocked Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on the 3200 block of Shorewood Drive overnight, stealing several items including camping gear and a Chase debit card, which was subsequently used. Losses are estimated at $650.
June 15
Luther Burbank Park Targeted Again by Car Prowlers
Two vehicles were struck by a prowler at the Luther Burbank Park north parking lot in broad daylight Saturday afternoon. The prowler smashed the rear left passenger side window of a locked Audi A4 and stole a green canvas LL Bean-branded tote bag from inside between 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. A short time later, the front passenger-side window of a locked LR4 Land Rover was smashed while it was parked. A purse with a gorilla emblem and ladies wallet were stolen sometime between 5 - 7:52 p.m.
Suspicious Ladder, Missing Window at Former New Hope Church
A passerby noticed that the doors to the vacant New Hope International Church were standing open and a ladder was leaning against the eaves at 12:46 p.m. Police investigating the property found no evidence of a crime but noticed a a screen on the north side of the building was taped in place over a where a glass window was broken out, allowing entry. Officer contacted the building manager who said they would properly secure the building.
'Irrational' Woman Confronts Man, Grabs Breasts at Albertsons
A 49-year-old woman with a history of odd or irrational behavior parked her vehicle in the middle of the Albertsons store entrance crosswalk at 5:55 a.m., got out and approached a customer leaving the store. She then grabbed and squeezed her chest in front of the Bellevue resident while asking, "It's breakfast time, you want some of these?" The woman left the store minutes later when police arrived, and asked an MIPD officer for help to locate her cell phone.

Vehicle Prowl Near Mercerdale Park
A locked Dodge Caravan parked on the 3400 block of 77th Ave. SE was missing a set of golf clubs after it was broken into overnight. The resident suspected the car was entered by someone who broke into the Caravan last month in Bellevue and stole his wife's purse, which held the vehicle's key fob and her driver's license. The vehicle's ignition lock was replaced but the door locks were not.
June 13
Police Smash Down Door to Check on Man, Find Him Outside
Police officers smashed down a door of a home on the 2400 block of 63rd Ave. SE while making a forced entry in order to check on the well-being of a resident there. A concerned 48-year-old son reported that his father was missing and that he suspected he was lying dead on the second floor, but couldn't get inside the home. Police officer later located the man outdoors and alive after an extensive search.
Drunk Woman Runs Over Motorcycle at Homestead Parking Lot
Police arrested a 35-year-old Kirkland woman on suspicion of DUI at 7:47 p.m. after a gray Toyota Camry she was driving backed into a Honda motorcycle in the Homestead Park parking lot, causing damage. The woman was processed and later released, and no injuries were reported.

Island Corporate Center Theft
A 75-year-old resident reported his iPad was stolen from his briefcase while he was inside the Island Corporate Center's first-floor men's room on SE 24th Street at around 4:30 p.m.
Bellevue Man Accused of Order Violation
A 46-year-old Bellevue man violated a restraining order against him when he came within 500 feet of a residence on the 8900 block of SE 44th Street where a 40-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl lived.

Check Fraudster Targets Covenant Shores Woman While in Hospital
An unknown person stole the checkbook of an 86-year-old resident of Covenant Shores Retirement Center from her room and wrote several fraudulent checks for several purchases while she was staying overnight at a local hospital.
