Half-Million in Jewelry Stolen From Courier's Car on Mercer Island
Mercer Island police have issued two images from surveillance photos in an effort to identify who might be responsible for the theft of jewelry from a parked car.
Mercer Island police have released two surveillance photos of a dark-colored van they suspect might have been involved in the theft of $500,000 worth of jewelry from a car left parked briefly by a courier.
The theft occurred Tuesday at about 1:44 p.m. when the jewelry courier, from New York City, briefly left his vehicle parked while on a short break at the Island Corporate Center in the 7600 block of SE 24th St. The courier was away from the vehicle for less than half an hour.
The half million dollars worth of jewelry is the property of his employer, a wholesale jewelry company located in New York City.
Surveillance cameras in the area captured the attached images, which depict a dark-colored minivan that stops adjacent to the victim’s vehicle.
The Mercer Island police have no leads and are hoping someone can provide information on the minivan. Anyone who might is asked to call 425-577-5656.
