Island Crest Park Renovation: City Seeks Donations

The parks department needs to raise $150,000 to use a state grant.

MERCER ISLAND, WA - The city received a $500,000 grant in 2014 to make renovations at Island Crest Park - but in order to use that grant, the city has to raise an additional $150,000.

The city has received some other grants toward that $150,000 goal, but is still $121,000 short. The entire cost of the project is about $2.5 million and will replace the park's lighting system and convert the south field to synthetic turf, among other improvements.

The city has chipped in a little over $1.5 million toward the project. Aside from the state grant, organizations like Puget Sound Energy and the Nowland Premier Soccer Academy have donated.
