Mercer Island City Council To Discuss Cougar At Meeting
Mercer Island's most famous feline hasn't been seen recently, but wildlife officials will discuss the big cat with city leaders.

MERCER ISLAND, WA — The Mercer Island City Council will hold a special meeting next week with state wildlife officials to discuss recent cougar sightings in the city.
A cougar was spotted roaming near Pioneer Park and along East Mercer Way on Aug. 5 and 6. Residents have reported sightings since, but none of them have been confirmed. Last week, a local resident saw what they thought was a cougar tail sticking out of some bushes, but state wildlife officials found no sign of the cat.
The special City Council study session will be held on Tuesday at City Hall at 6:45 p.m. with cougar experts from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.
