
Water-wise Mercer Island residents who install a water-saving toilet are eligible for rebates, after the city's participation in the Saving Water Partnership, a group focused on conserving water across King County, according to the most recent city newsletter.
Residents who install toilets WaterSense-labeled high-efficiency toilet (HET) are eligible for a $30 rebate, and starting June 1, residents who install a Premium WaterSense models are eligible for a $75 rebate. The new models use 1.06 gallons per flush, according to the city, and can save a household $50 to $200 a year on its water bill.
The city of Mercer Island provided the following information about the program:
Toilets are a household's biggest water user: old models can use three to five gallons of water per flush, costing you money on your utility bill.
Consider replacing it with help from the City of Mercer Island and the Saving Water Partnership, a group focused on conserving water across King County. For a limited time, customers who replace their old, water-guzzling toilet with a new WaterSense-labeled model are eligible for a $30 rebate. Or beginning June 1st, choose one of the newer 1.06 gallon per flush Premium WaterSense models and get a $75 rebate! Most households can reduce their water bills by $50-200/year.
