Mercer Island PTA Council Presents Annual Awards

The Mercer Island PTA Council presented its annual awards at a ceremony at Mercer Island Beach Club on Friday.

The award winners were:

1) Kathy Morrison (Mercer Island School District) - Outstanding Educator (Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano presented)

2) Pat Turner (Mercer Island School District) - Outstanding Advocate (Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano presented)

3) Becky Shaddle (Boys & Girls Club) - Outstanding Service Award (Community member Scott Barbara presented)

4) Marnie MacDiarmid  and Jackie Brown- Golden Acorn (School Board member Pat Braman presented)

5) Youth and Family Services /Communities that Care (presented to Derek Franklin) - Mercer Island Community Partner (Mercer Island Youth and Families Servies Executive Director Cindy Goodwin presented)

6) Bill Harris (Islander Middle School) - Children's Advocate (Island Middle School Principal Mary Jo Budzius presented)

7)  Reflections (presented to Ivy Suzuki-Jaecks) - Outstanding Program (PTA Council Co-President Toby Suhm presented)

8)  Kendall Taylor - Golden Acorn (School Board member Janet Frohmayer presented)
