Mercer Island Rideshare Program Price Increase

Uber and Lyft rides to and from the Mercer Island Park and Ride increased in price on Wednesday.

MERCER ISLAND, WA - Mercer Island's rideshare pilot program got a little more expensive this week. Solo Lyft and Uber rides to and from the Mercer Island Park and Ride now cost $5, but shared rides will still cost $2.

But the rides are still much cheaper than Uber and Lyft rides in other places.

Mercer Island began the pilot program in April, using money from a settlement with Sound Transit over the loss of I-90 HOV lanes to subsidize the rides. The rideshare service only shuttles residents to and from the park and ride. The program will continue for another three months.

If $5 is too steep for a solo ride, Mercer Island is also launching a pilot of dockless bikes. The company LimeBike operates the bikeshare, and the bikes can be driven and parked anywhere. The bikes cost $1 for 30 minutes of ride time.
