Mercer Island School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Mercer Island is August 30. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Mercer Island School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/29: Certificated Pre-Service Day

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/27: First Quarter Ends

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/15: Half Day for K-5 Students (Report Card Prep)
• 11/20 - 11/22: No School for Elementary Students (Conferences)
• 11/22: IMS Early Release (Report Card Prep), Half Day for 6-8 Students, First Trimester Ends
• 11/23 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/18 - 1/1: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• 1/19: Half Day for 9-12 Students (Report Card Prep), First Semester Ends

February

• 2/15: No School (Scheduled Weather Makeup Day)
