Mercer Island Streets Close Saturday For Fred Hutch Obliteride

The annual Obliteride for cancer research has three different routes around Puget Sound.

MERCER ISLAND, WA - The Fred Hutchinson Obliteride bike ride kicks off Saturday morning in Seattle, and the bicyclists will snake through local streets from Renton to Mercer Island to Edgewood. Obliterade includes three different routes - 25 miles, 50 miles, and 100 miles.

The annual Obliteride funds cancer research. Each route comes with a minimum fundraising level - someone doing the 50 mile ride must raise $1,000, for example.

The 25-mile ride stays entirely inside Seattle, heading from the University of Washington south to Seward Park. The 50-mile ride goes south from UW along Lake Washington to Renton, up to I-90, and then around Mercer Island before heading back to Seattle.
