MERCER ISLAND, WA - It feels like a long time ago, but just about two years ago Mercer Island was locked in a lawsuit with Sound Transit over light rail and the loss of I-90 HOV access. Part of that suit involved Mercer Island's light rail station and how bus transit would fit into it.

On Tuesday, Mercer Island residents will get a chance to hear from Sound Transit on plans so far for what's being called the Mercer Island Transit Interchange, which is where buses and light rail will converge.

According to city officials, the current plans sticks to the lawsuit settlement reached in fall 2017, including lower bus volumes, the construction of a roundabout at North Mercer Way and 77th Avenue Southeast, and reducing bus layovers.
