Hectic Search On Mercer Island For Car Thieves
Two men allegedly stole a car from Mary Wayte Pool Wednesday morning, according to police.

MERCER ISLAND, WA - A search for two men who allegedly stole a car from Mary Wayte Pool Wednesday morning threw a Mercer Island neighborhood into chaos, with residents asked to stay indoors and a school placed on lockdown.
Near 11:30 a.m., a person using Mary Wayte Pool called police to report that two men took his car keys and stole his car. A short time later, a Mercer Island officer spotted the stolen car near in the Shorewood Heights area.
The two men then ditched the car along the 3600 block of 88th Avenue Southeast, according to police. Police called the King County Sheriff's Office for helicopter assistance, and Seattle police for a K9 unit.

Because of the search, Northwood Elementary was placed on modified lockdown. The two suspects were eventually located and arrested.
