Stroum JCC July Events: Summer Camp, Errol Morris Screening, Kayaking

MERCER ISLAND, WA - July is packed with summer-appropriate events at the Stroum Jewish Community Center on Mercer Island. Some highlights include a screening of Errol Morris' new documentary "The B Side," summer camp, and a paddling (canoe, kayak, etc.) event.
Here's the full lineup:
Dinner at Our House
July 16 | 5-7 pm | Free
Do you like to cook? How about helping those in need? We’re partnering with YouthCare, an organization working to fight homelessness among Seattle teens, to cook dinner for 20 in the SJCC kitchen. Dinner will then be delivered to YouthCare’s Jackson Street facility to be served that evening. Please join us for a couple hours to help battle food insecurity among homeless teens! If you’re interested in participating, please email SJCC Community Connections Professional Ken Di Raimondo or call 206-388-0839.

The B Side: Free Advance Screening
Wednesday, July 19 | 7 pm | Free
A look at the life and work of celebrated portrait photographer Elsa Dorfman, known for her large-format instant Polaroids and famous subjects, including Allen Ginsberg, Joni Mitchell, and Bob Dylan. Directed by Oscar winner Errol Morris (FOG OF WAR).

Paddle with the J
Thursday July 20th | 5:30-7:30 pm | $10 SJCC members; $15 guests
Meet us at the Herzl waterfront (across the street from the J) to spend an evening on the water! We’ll get out the J’s kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards and enjoy some sunshine, get exercise, and meet new friends. Each trip is two hours. There will be a lifeguard on duty.

Summer Shuk
Friday July 28th 3pm to 6pm | Free – Cash for food or vendor goods
Join us for a beautiful afternoon in the Kesher Garden for a Shabbat celebration complete with a food truck to grab dinner, s’mores and songs.
SJCC Summer Camp
Every weekday Monday July 3rd through August 25, All Day
SJCC Summer Camp has weekly options June 19 through August 25. Camp runs Mondays to Fridays 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. SJCC campers learn songs, play gaga, act onstage, conduct science experiments, and make lifelong friendships.
Tot Shabbat
Fridays in June, 9:45-10:30am
Celebrate Shabbat every week with songs, challah, and fun! For families for with children ages 5 and under.
