TRAFFIC ALERT: Seattle Marathon Will Shut Roads Sunday

10,500 expected to attend marathon that spans the Seattle Center to Mercer Island.

SEATTLE, WA - The Seattle Marathon gets underway today at 7:15 a.m. and will last until mid-afternoon - beware of street closures and re-routes.

The marathon begins at the Seattle Center and heads up 5th Avenue, then crosses I-90 over t0 Mercer Island. From there, the runners will travel back to Seattle across I-90, south to Seward Park, and then north toward the arboretum.

The Seattle Department of Transportation estimates about 10,500 will attend. Closed roads should reopen by 2:15, according to SDOT.
