Watch Online as City's Solar Panels Make Energy and Money
An interactive display measures how much energy is created by the solar array to feed the Mercer Island Community & Event Center's energy needs.
(Ed. Note: This post is a city press release.)
With the recent installation of some additional hardware on the City's new solar array at the Community Center, interested residents can now view the energy production of the panels at any time by logging into this website.
As shown by the E-gauge graphs, peak production usually occurs around noon each day, and will be highest in the summer months. Although it may be a surprise to some, the panels are so efficient that they even produce power during rainy or cloudy weather. Viewers can adjust the timeframe by clicking on the purple boxes, and will also notice a summary of the income and energy produced over time. Not only do the panels feed power directly to the Mercer Room at the Community Center, but they will also earn approximately $2,500 in state production incentives each year.
