2 Injured, 3 Pets Killed In Puyallup House Fire: Roads Reopened

A house fire in Puyallup closed roads along 9th Street SW for several hours Tuesday afternoon.

PUYALLUP, WA — A house fire on 9th Street Southwest injured two people, killed three house pets and closed several nearby roads Tuesday afternoon.

Update: as of 5:36 p.m. all roads have been reopened.

Central Pierce Fire & Rescue first sounded the alarm around 1:40 p.m., sharing a video showing smoke pouring from a Puyallup area home.

Initially, only 9th street was closed in the 2200 block, but as more emergency responders and police units have arrived on scene, 19th, 23rd, 31st and 15th were closed as well.

Firefighters say two victims were rescued from the home, and have been taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the family's dog and two guinea pigs were killed.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire, which they believe began in the house's garage.
