Canyon Road Project May Cause Delays Thursday

Crews will begin installing a new traffic signal system beginning at 8 a.m., which the city says is likely to cause some delays.

PUYALLUP, WA — After literal years of work on Canyon Road East the city is finally putting in some of the final touches.

Unfortunately, those final touches will likely delay some drivers this Thursday. According to the city, starting at 8 a.m. crews will begin installing a new traffic signal system at the intersection of Canyon Rd E & 96th St E.

The construction won't close the road and should wrap up around 10:30 a.m., but traffic may be shifted around crews as they work. That'll likely cause at least some traffic delay, the city says.

The revamp of Canyon Road E started in April 2019 but has halted several times. This installation marks one of the final parts of the project. Other improvements included new street lighting, an improved storm drainage system and road widening.
