Car Prowls, Feces and A Flame Thrower: PPD Reports Aug. 9-14
The following information is courtesy of the Puyallup Police Dept. from Aug. 9-14. It does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 9, 2013
Assault: A man who was angry with employees from Ben's Quality Tube and Lube for parking vehicles on the street in front of his house confronted the owner with a tire iron and struck him on the arm.
Aug. 10, 2013
Theft/False Info: A teenage boy stole a t-shirt from Walmart. He told police a false name at first, which they discovered after contacting his mother. He was booked into Remann Hall.
Vehicle Prowls: Two vehicles were broken into at South Hill Mall Cinemas. One suffered a broken window but nothing was stolen. Another had a broken window and a work laptop stolen.
Disorderly Conduct: A man at the Luckett House was being disorderly and yelling at other residents, apparently because he was not taking his anti-psychotic medications. Officers had to restrain him and transport him to the hospital, where he was put in soft restraints. The man has an extensive history at PPD.
Aug. 11, 2013
Theft: A resident at an apartment complex on the 1700 block of E Main reported that her $3,600 engagement ring was stolen. The woman she suspected of taking it had lived there for awhile while she got her life back together, then moved to North Carolina a couple days previously. An officer located a pawn that showed that the suspect indeed had the ring.
Attempted Burglary: Neighbors reported seeing two teenage boys huddled around the garage and obtain a shovel and attempt to pry the hasp off the garage. Suspects observed the witness and took off for their houses, which were only a couple away from the victim's residence. Officers made contact with both and they confessed to being at the garage and attempting to open it to gain access to the victims’ marijuana that they thought was kept in that detached garage. Both were booked and released to parents.
Resisting Arrest: A man was blocking traffic on W Pioneer and acting strangely. Officers arrived and he would not obey commands and refused to comply and advanced on officers. He was taken down to the ground after being told he was under arrest and refusing to cooperate. It took several officers to bring him under control. He put his hand on an officer’s gun as well. He was struck with the baton several times and received three knee strikes. He finally complied and medical aid was summoned immediately to access the situation for what appeared to be Excited Delirium symptoms. Medical aid cleared him and he said he was uninjured. Later, at the jail, he allegedly removed all of his clothes and smeared feces on the cell walls.

Meth: An officer spotted a man walking around in the area with a backpack, had Dispatch run him for warrants, and found he had a DOC Escape Community Custody Warrant related to UPCS charges. He also had two baggies of methamphetamine discovered search incident to arrest.
Malicious Mischief: At Enterprise Rent-A-Car on River Road, between 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) punctured/flattened tires on 11 rental cars parked on the west side of the plaza. In another incident, suspects smashed a double pane window at a house recently purchased by the mayor.
Vehicle Prowl: At New Beginnings Auto Sales on S. Meridian, two vehicles were entered and a CD/DVD/Bluetooth was stolen from one of the vehicles. It was unknown how entry was gained into one of the vehicle, a Mitsubishi Endeavor, but the second vehicle was entered via a broken canopy window.
Involuntary Commit: A woman was involuntarily committed after it was determined she likely tried to overdose on Tylenol, had intentionally defecated on her bed in order to stink up the apartment, and had other signs she could not care for herself.
Disorderly Home: A man was allegedly using a WD40 can as a flame thrower and possibly yielding a hammer at the 300 block of 5th St. SE. He was detained and found to not have done the acts the way they were reported. A pregnant woman and her boyfriend are living out back of the house in a tent, but they were not home. The renter said she has problems with CLARK as well as other transient types using her house as a flop house.
Vandalism: Two vehicles at the 2900 block of 18th St. SW. were damaged, possibly with pellets, to include broken windows and the vehicle exteriors. Residents stated they have been having problems with vandalism, theft, and suspicious persons.

Vehicle Prowls: Two more vehicle prowls occurred at the Cinemas. One had its driver window smashed and lost a purse and jewelry. The other also had its driver window smashed and lost a 16GB iPod touch. No suspects in either case.

Injury Collision: A subject crashed into the light pole on the southwest corner of the intersection adjacent to the eastbound off ramp of SR 512 and S. Meridian at 8 a.m. The street light and traffic signal were damaged and were mostly inoperable the entire day. The off ramp was closed and southbound S. Meridian was down to one lane causing traffic issues throughout the day. The driver suffered from a possible medical condition and did not remember the collision.
ATM Theft: A man attempted to pry into the ATMs at the Bank of America on W. Meeker St. He has hit other ATMs in the area.
