Wrong-Way Driver Killed In Canyon Road Crash: Deputies
Deputies had to warn commuters to avoid Canyon Road just south of SR 512 in Puyallup after a crash midday Thursday.
PUYALLUP, WA — A driver has died following a head-on collision with a semi-truck in Puyallup early Thursday afternoon.
Deputies say the crash happened in 12000 block of Canyon Road E, just before 1 p.m.
According to the sheriff department's preliminary investigation, a driver had been going the wrong way on Canyon when they collided head-on with a semi truck. The wrong-way driver was killed, but had no passengers in their vehicle. Deputies say the semi truck driver is okay and no other injuries have been reported.

The collision forced first responders to close the road in both directions for several hours. As of 4 p.m. all closures have been lifted.

Investigators say they are still trying to determine why the driver had been headed into oncoming traffic.
