Deadly Overnight Shooting Closes Ruston Way For Over 10 Hours

Commuters likely saw lingering traffic backups Wednesday morning after a deadly shooting late Tuesday night.

TACOMA, WA — A deadly shooting in Tacoma late Tuesday night forced investigators to close a section of Ruston Way for more than 10 hours.

According to Tacoma Police, at around 10:30 p.m. their officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4300 block of Ruston Way.

When they arrived, they found a 29-year-old woman unresponsive at the scene. Despite attempts to give her emergency medical aid, she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

While police investigated, they closed Ruston Way is blocked between N 49th and Dale St — which did not fully reopen until 9 a.m. the next morning.

Other than that, few details surrounding the case have been released. No suspects have been arrested, and officers have not said if they have a suspect description or a motive for this crime.
