PUYALLUP, WA — There were plenty of fights called in to Puyallup police recently, with the notables including a teen girl who believed her punishment (phone taken away) merited an assault on her mom, and one guy whose approach to fighting evidently involved pulling down his own pants and exposing himself to the horrified victim.

Those moments and more are in this iteration of the Puyallup Police crime log, covering select incidents reported between May 17 and 21.

A theft victim reported their unlocked car was burgled sometime between 10 and 11 p.m. The victim's wallet and credit card were stolen.

Warrant Arrest

200-block of Fifth Street Northeast

Police arrested a transient man who decided to lay across the sidewalk and block the way for other pedestrians. The man also had a warrant out of Bonney Lake.

Malicious Mischief- Graffiti / Trespassing 1st- Walmart / Shoplift Walmart- markers stolen

4404 S. Meridian - Walgreens

310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart

A man who stole markers from Walmart later allegedly drew graffiti in a Chick-fil-A restroom and on Red Box machines outside a Walgreens store. He was ultimately arrested in Bradley Lake Park early Tuesday.

Following the suspect's arrest, police located a notebook filled with similar artwork to the graffiti found at Chick-fil-A and Walgreens, police said. Using surveillance video of the man at Walmart, investigators were able to tie him to all three incidents.

2500-block of East Main Avenue

A thief entered the victim's unlocked 2007 Ford F-150 pickup sometime between 10:30 p.m. and 6 a.m., stealing an iWatch, a safe containing prescribed narcotics, and a TSA security badge. Oddly, the thief reportedly left behind a vape device.

Burglary / UPCS / Theft / Organized Retail Theft / Warrant

310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart

An officer responded to a report of a shoplifter fleeing from the store. The officer located and detained a male who had stolen $400 in merchandise and had a PPD theft warrant. The male had recently been trespassed from all Walmart stores after being caught shoplifting in Federal Way.

He gave consent to search his vehicle, and K9 Otto located methamphetamine inside. Also found in the vehicle was $1,700 in stolen merchandise from numerous other retailers. The officer recovered all stolen property and obtained a confession from the suspect. He was booked into Pierce County Jail.

3300-block of 23rd Street Southwest

A male who was recently arrested claimed that his girlfriend fraudulently used his credit cards while he was in jail. Report to ISU.

Disorderly Conduct / Criminal Trespass / False Statements / Indecent Exposure

300-block of Fourth Avenue Southeast

A male entered a fenced yard and was attempting to open a shed door when he was confronted by the homeowner. He told the homeowner he was there to “rob him” and challenged the homeowner to a fight. He then jumped onto the homeowner’s vehicle, pulled his pants down exposing himself.

After being arrested, he lied about his name until the fingerprint scanner revealed his true identity. He was booked.

Assault

700-block Eighth Avenue Southwest

A 16-year-old assaulted her mother by pushing her. She was angry that her mother took her cell phone away because she did not turn in a homework assignment.

Theft from Vehicle

900-block of 23rd Street Southwest

Sometime overnight someone broke into the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole his firearm that he had in the center console. The firearm was entered as stolen.

The suspect left a water bottle behind that was taken for prints.

Assault 4th DV, Exposing a Minor to DV

700-block of 43rd Avenue Southeast

A 24-year-old male assaulted his girlfriend by throwing a set of keys at her and grabbing her arms. It is unknown what they were arguing about, but he stated he was having a bad day.

His day got a lot worse after being arrested and booked.

Malicious Mischief

100-block of 31st Avenue Southeast

A 27-year-old male was upset that his friend was talking to his girlfriend, so he punched out the window to his vehicle. The suspect fled on foot and was not located. Citation to be mailed by the court.

Theft

300-block of 43rd Avenue Southeast

Victim placed her purse in an unlocked locker at the YMCA. She went swimming and when she returned her purse was stolen.

302 43rd Ave. SE - YMCA

The victim had her purse stolen from a locker that was reported earlier discovered she had over 3k in fraudulent charges made on her stolen credit cards at several different stores at the South Hill Mall and the Puyallup Walmart.

DV Malicious Mischief 3rd Arrest

407 Valley Ave. NE - Meridian Pointe Apartments

A 25-year-old male got into a heated argument with his fiancé that turned into a physical altercation with no injuries. After the altercation he punched his fiancé’s TV, breaking it.

A primary aggressor could not be determined, and he was arrested and booked for damaging the TV. The report was forwarded to the prosecutors for review in DV charges.

DUI-Alcohol

200-block of Second Street Southeast

A 58-year-old male was stopped for defective equipment and several lane travel issues. He refused SFST’s and was determined to be impaired by alcohol. He was placed under arrest and provided breath samples of .104 and .107. He was cooperative. He was administratively booked.

DUI-Drugs

702 S. Meridian - Taco Bell

A 28-year-old male was called in as a possible DUI while in the Taco Bell drive-thru. He exited the drive-thru and immediately had lane travel issues and was stopped. He refused SFST’s and was determined to be impaired.

He smelled of intoxicants and three open beer cans were located inside his vehicle. He was placed under arrest and a breath sample was obtained with a result of .001 and .003 that was not consistent with his level of impairment.

He admitted to taking Methadone that he had a prescription for. A blood search warrant was then completed and granted. He was booked.

ID Theft

1400-block of Park Avenue

Victim reported that between May 10th and 12th someone applied for two credit cards using her information.

Burglary

100-block of 17th Street Southwest

Sometime overnight someone broke into the rear shed of the residence. The suspect(s) stole the victim’s lawnmower, weed eater, and new insulation that was going to be installed in the home.

Sometime overnight someone stole the victim’s 1995 Honda Accord. The vehicle was entered as stolen.

After her car keys were stolen out of her boyfriend's vehicle while the couple were in Auburn, a woman returned home to find her 2008 Acura MDX was also stolen.

Theft

310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart

The victim left her Samsung Galaxy S-9 cell phone on the table at McDonalds inside Walmart. She returned a few minutes later to retrieve it and it was gone. She tracked her phone to parking lot but was unable to locate it.

Loss prevention is reviewing surveillance footage for possible suspect information. Report to ISU.

239 15th St. SE - Extra Space Storage

A man thought he'd just misplaced a Miller Mag Welder and water tank when he noticed the items were missing from his storage unit on May 5. On Tuesday, however, the man saw his storage unit was now also missing six guitars, a jewelry box, two laptops, two camcorders, and two digital recorders.

Sometime overnight someone stole fuel out of one of the vehicles on the car lot.

Someone had spray painted graffiti on the restroom door and picnic table.

A white man was recorded on security cameras cutting the gas lines to company trucks and stealing the fuel early in the morning.

Sometime in the last seven months someone stole the license plate off the victim’s trailer. The plate was entered as stolen.

An officer followed up on this trespass and located the 42-year-old suspect. He was cited.

311 West Pioneer - Puyallup Jail

Three inmates are the Puyallup Jail were reportedly filmed on the jail's cameras as they burgled crackers from the jail's commissary area.

In the video, the inmates are seen putting their arms inside the commissary cage, removing the crackers and then hiding them in their pants and shirts, all while smiling, police said.

All three inmates were provided with new citations, which will most likely extend their stay.

Runaway Recovery

333 S. Meridian - City Hall

A police sergeant contacted a juvenile boy who was charging his phone in the downtown portion of the City Hall parking garage. Speaking with the boy, the officer learned he was listed as a missing person from the Spruce Group Home in Seattle.

After contacting the Spruce Group Home, the officer learned the boy's bed was given away and the home did not want him to come back. So, the officer called CPS — which then took another three hours to come and pick up the kid.

Warrant Arrest / Switched Plates

500 N. Meridian

A male was stopped when a routine records check revealed he had switched plates on his vehicle. He later admitted that he had put an old trailer plate he owned on his vehicle.

He was DWLS 3rd and failed to transfer the title to include multiple warrants for his arrest. He was booked.
