Freeman Road Neighborhood Annexation Meeting July 25
The Puyallup City Council will first consider initiating the annexation process for the 134-acre lot at its July 23 meeting.

PUYALLUP, WA — The city wants to annex a 134-acre lot located between Fife, Edgewood, and Puyallup, and next week residents are invited to a community meeting at the Puyallup Recreation Center to learn about the potential benefits and changes that are expected should the annexation pass.
The plot of land being considered for annexation is located along the east side of 82nd Avenue/Freeman Road east, between Valley Avenue East on the north and North Levee Road East on the south. Currently, the "island" of unincorporated Pierce County is occupied by several residences and a handful of warehouses and businesses.
According to Puyallup city officials, the so-called Freeman Road neighborhood does receive some services from the neighboring communities but does not have full access to all services "tailored for an urban environment, such as membership to Puyallup's library, representation from the city council, and Puyallup police service to name a few."

Should the annexation pass, those service gaps will be filled, officials explained.
The Puyallup City Council will consider a resolution to initiate the annexation process at its meeting Tuesday, July 23, in the council chambers at City Hall, 333 S. Meridian. The community meeting will follow two days later, on July 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Puyallup Recreation Center's Centennial Room, located at 808 Valley Ave. N.W.
