High School Red Kettle Challenge
Local students volunteer as bell ringers with The Salvation Army

Did you know just 60 minutes of Red Kettle bell ringing can yield enough donations to feed 13 people?
The Salvation Army invites high school students in Puyallup, Bethel, Orting and Sumner-Bonney Lake School Districts to participate in the High School Red Kettle Challenge from November 11 to December 24, 2019. It’s simple – students volunteer as Red Kettle bell ringers to collect as much as possible. We will work with you to schedule dates, times and locations to suit and provide a Kettle in your colors.
We will recognize the schools that collect the most contributions and volunteer the most time. The winner in each category will receive an award.

Started in 1891, The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign is the world’s most enduring and recognizable fundraising effort. The iconic Red Kettle symbolizes goodwill, and the familiar peal of a hand bell, Christmas giving. Our Bell Ringing Program is a tradition which enables community members to meet the public, spread Christmas cheer and share the message of Hope for the less fortunate.
The need is great for struggling families and individuals. Last year, The Salvation Army’s 7,617 centers of operation assisted 23.1 million people in every zip code, with around three million seeking help during Thanksgiving and Christmas, alone. Strong support of the Red Kettle enables us to keep our doors open into the New Year and continue meeting local needs. 83 cents of every dollar collected goes direct to program funding in the community where it was raised.
