Logan Lewis, Puyallup Childhood Cancer Fighter, Dies At 15

Lewis was the founder of the Loganfest cancer fundraiser.

PUYALLUP, WA - Logan Lewis, the founder of a local fundraiser for childhood cancer, and a hero to many, died from complications related to cancer on Tuesday, his family announced on his website.

Lewis, 15, was first diagnosed with cancer - neuroblastoma - in 2007 at age 5. He chance of survival was slim, but Lewis beat the odds, and his cancer went into remission. The first Loganfest was held during Lewis' initial battle with cancer and raised $100,000.

"He was given a 30 percent of living and defeating the terrible disease. He instantly was at stage 4 and needed to have surgery to remove a large tumor and begin his painful treatment," the biography on his website reads. "After going through stem-cell transplant, radiation, and chemotherapy, Logan fought hard to beat his cancer. He had unbelievable love and support from family, friends and the community.

The Loganfest fundraisers continued for nine years, including after his cancer returned in 2015. The 10th Loganfest was scheduled for this month. Lewis celebrated his 15th birthday on Jan. 19.

"I just wanted to send out a quick thank you to everyone," reads the final blog post on Lewis' website. "Family, friends, and everyone who is praying for our family."We all have amazing memories of Logan. He is an inspiration to so many."
