PUYALLUP, WA — Spring is in the air and drunk drivers are on the street in this iteration of the ever popular Puyallup Police Department crime blotter, covering select incidents reported between April 26 and 30.

Criminal Trespass

3001 S. Meridian

Police arrested and permanently trespassed from 7-Eleven a 27-year-old man who was reportedly caught stealing beer.

Burglary

700-block of 43rd Avenue Southeast

Camping gear and brake drums were stolen from a residential garage after unknown suspects cut the lock.

Recovery (Runaway)

2600-block of South Meridian

A juvenile runaway was recovered and turned over to his mother.

DUI Collision

304 Second St. NE - McDonald's

A 51-year-old woman was arrested for drunk driving after she rear-ended another vehicle while in the McDonald's drive-thru.

Counterfeiting

4404 S. Meridian

Two unknown females in their 20’s attempted to pass a fake $20 bill, which did not have a security strip and the "20" was not slightly raised. One of the females stated they got the currency from someone else. The two females used a different form of payment to complete their purchase prior to leaving. Unknown if they left on foot or in a vehicle.

Follow Up – Hit & Run South Hill Mall

3500 S. Meridian - South Hill Mall

A male was cited for hit & run after he was tracked down as the driver of a vehicle that had struck the victim vehicle and left the scene. An officer worked in partnership with mall security and was able to work back to locate where the suspect vehicle and driver resided. A statement was obtained, and he admitted to driving the vehicle. The victim was contacted and informed of the new information and suspect verification for insurance purposes.

MVTR

1720 River Rd. - Shell

A woman told police her tan 1985 Honda Accord was stolen from the gas station while the car was parked near an ice machine — with the keys still inside.

DUI – Alcohol

West Pioneer and South Meridian

A driver was pulled over after failing to use a turn signal and failing to make a complete stop. The man was tested for inebriation and returned BAC results of 0.112 and 0.111 — slightly over the legal limit of 0.08. It is the man's second DUI arrest.

Malicious Mischief

100-block of Ninth Avenue Southwest

Sometime overnight someone broke out the window to a business building with a large rock.

NCO Violation

2700-block of South Meridian

A 32-year-old female claims that her husband sent a friend request to her on Facebook last night in violation of a no contact order. The husband was contacted at his residence and denied sending the request. Case forwarded to the prosecutor.

DUI / Reckless Driving

800 13th St. SE

A man was slightly over the legal limit for driving intoxicated when he was stopped for reckless behavior. According to police, the man ran a stop sign at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street southeast at roughly 60 mph. The man returned BAC results of 0.101 and 0.095. He was arrested.

Making False Statements / Warrant Arrest

400 N. Meridian

A male provided a false name to an officer and claimed that he had an ID out of Georgia. When Officers were unable to find any record of him in Georgia and locally, they requested a Milton unit with a finger print scanner to their location. The subjects real name revealed he had an outstanding no bail felony DOC escape warrant. He was booked.

MVTR

3207 E. Main Ave. - Mama Stortini’s

The victim called to report his blue 1991 Toyota Camry was taken while it was parked within the parking lot of the business. Surveillance video revealed an unknown white male 20-25yrs old, approximately 5’10” – 6’0” exiting a red Mazda pickup and entering the listed vehicle before driving away. Report to detectives.

Motor Vehicle Recovery

3207 E. Main Ave. - Mama Stortini’s

While reviewing surveillance video for the above MVTR, the officer observed a red Mazda truck and an unknown white male 20-25yrs old, approximately 5’10” – 6’0” exit the vehicle and go to the above listed Toyota Camry and leave in the vehicle.

The red Mazda truck was found to be stolen when the license plate reader alerted to the vehicle. The registered owner could not be contacted therefore the vehicle was towed. Report to detectives.

Domestic Assault

100-block of Fourth Avenue Southeast

A woman called police to report her boyfriend assaulted and attempted to strangled her, resulting in a broken finger, roughly four days ago. The woman said she went to hospital for treatment on the same day of the incident and assumed hospital staff called police, which they did not.

Police followed up the report with a visit to the boyfriend's house, but he was not found. The case was forwarded to detectives.

DUI – Alcohol

600 River Rd.

A man returned BAC test results of roughly double the legal limit (0.185 and 0.169) after he was pulled over for veering into the farthest left lane when making a right turn. He was arrested.

MVTR

900-block of 20th Street Southeast

The victim reported the theft of his 1986 Ford pickup from his driveway sometime overnight.

False Statement, Paraphernalia, Puyallup Warrants

3500 S. Meridian - South Hill Mall

A social contact with a 33-year-old male resulted in him lying about his name and giving his brother’s information attempting to conceal several Puyallup Warrants for his arrest for Theft 3rd Degree. In addition to the warrants he had a small amount of meth on his person. He was booked.

OSA DV Protection Order Warrant Arrest

1500 S. Meridian

A male subject was contacted at the start of shift after being disorderly and meth-ranting towards traffic up and down the sidewalk. He had walked away from Good Samaritan Hospital earlier and was still coming down from his high.

We took him on road trip to Nisqually Jail for his Yelm DV Warrant.

Indecent Exposure/Felony Warrant

304 Second St. NE - McDonald's

A female was called in by employees as she was topless in front of the business. Employees were offended, and there were also customers in the restaurant.

She was arrested and found to have a DOC Escape warrant. She was transported and booked into SCORE Jail.

Vehicle Prowl

310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart

The victim discovered her vehicle window smashed out and her handbag stolen.

Theft

4423 S. Meridian - Massage Envy

Two females stole over $900 in merchandise. Report to ISU.

DUI

1405 E. Main Ave. - Safeway

Two officers viewed a verbal altercation between a driver and a pedestrian that nearly turned physical. After recognizing that the driver may be impaired, an officer took over the investigation.

The driver was ultimately arrested for DUI. He refused BAC, and the officer authored and served a blood search warrant. The driver was booked.

Unlawful Possession Drug Para/Warrant

1100 N. Meridian - Fred Meyer

An officer made contact with a male in the parking lot. The male subject was found to have PPD warrants for Theft 3 and Criminal Trespass 1. He was arrested and found to have a small amount of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. He was booked.

Vandalism - Damage to Property

1404 Fifth St. SW - WA State Fairgrounds

Maintenance from the WA State Fair reported unknown persons damaged a garage door on the Exhibition Center and discharged over 10 fire extinguishers in the concert stage area.

Perhaps cool in 1980’s at hairband concerts before fog machines, but this behavior is unacceptable and against the law now.

Found Property - Drugs

2001-block of 15th Avenue Southwest

An employee at the Fairfield Inn located an unexpected baggy of 3.4 grams of methamphetamine someone discarded down the laundry shoot. The origin room of where the drugs came from cannot be determined since many rooms are tied to the laundry device. Apparently, someone wanted to “come clean” about their drug addictions.

Theft from Vehicle

1617 E. Main Ave. - River Trail Apartments

Sometime overnight, the victim’s unlocked 2011 Hyundai was entered by suspect(s). Her wallet, ID, SS card, cash and other items stolen.

Runaway Recovery/Warrant

4603 S. Meridian - McDonald's

A confirmed runaway was located at this location. He was found to have Remann Hall warrants for Burglary, Malicious Mischief, Theft, and Obstructing. He was cleared as a missing person and booked for his warrants.

Trespass

1100 N. Meridian - Fred Meyer

A female was called in as an unwanted person/chronic problem at the business. She was found to be trespassed from all Fred Meyer locations. She was arrested and booked.

Theft of License Plate

201 W. Main Ave. - DSHS

A license plate from a Honda CRV was stolen. It was entered.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery/Unlawful Possession of Drug Para/DWLS

310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart

Two officers got behind an occupied stolen Dodge Neon as it pulled into the Walmart parking lot. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and the three occupants were detained.

The 15-year-old driver was ultimately arrested and booked into Remann Hall for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, UPDP, and DWLS 2. Her passenger/mother/role model was later released along with the second passenger at the scene.
