Puyallup police officers were kept busy over the past few days with calls to drunken fights, shoplifters, and party noise.

PUYALLUP, WA — Fighting, shoplifting, and familial disputes involving fathers and sons were the themes for this latest iteration of the ever-popular Puyallup police crime log, covering select incidents reported between May 10 and 14.

Obstructing

3900-block of 10th Street Southeast

Nine people were detained at a residence in this area after police were dispatched to an assault in progress involving a firearm. Of the nine people detained, two men — 30 and 19 years old, respectively — were identified as the primary aggressors.

According to police, the 30-year-old assaulted the teen because the younger man owed him "drug money." Police were unable to locate a firearm during their investigation, and the 19-year-old refused to report as a victim in the incident.

The report was forwarded to the prosecutor's office.

Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Warrants

310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart

51-year-old male was contacted for crossing in front of traffic on his bicycle. He had several warrants and methamphetamine on his person. He was booked.

1409 S. Meridian - Northwest Motor Inn

A woman was arrested after refusing to comply with multiple requests that she vacate the motelfrom both motel staff and police.

Domestic Assault

1000-block of 39th Avenue Southeast

A male punched his wife during an argument within a vehicle. Probable cause was established for Assault DV. He was later located walking near Walmart. He was booked.

Warrant / UPCS / UPDP

700 River Rd.

A female driver was contacted after driving a vehicle with a defective license plate light. A records check revealed she had multiple warrants for her arrests and her driver’s status was DWLS 3rd degree.

Consent to search the car was granted, therefore K9 Otto was deployed and subsequently located 19 grams of methamphetamine. She was booked.

MIP / Resisting Arrest / Disorderly

1900-block of Ninth Avenue Southeast

Officers were dispatched to a noise complaint regarding a party. When units arrived, a male was actively fighting and would not stop. He became belligerent with officers and took a bladed stance toward officers. He was taken to the ground and actively resisted arrest. He was booked.

Warrant Arrest

1100 N. Meridian - Fred Meyer

A male was contacted with a group of individuals who were hanging out on a bench in front of the store, which was closed. A record check revealed the male had multiple warrants for his arrest to include a warrant out of Pierce County. He was booked.

Theft from Vehicle

2900-block of South Meridian

Sometime overnight someone entered the victim’s vehicle by cutting the rear door lock. The suspect(s) stole the victim’s camera.

Robbery (Strongarm)

611 S. Meridian - Safeway

A 27-year-old female stole tampons from the store and then assaulted an employee before fleeing. She was located and booked into county.

Agency Assist

3310 S. Meridian - Target

Units assisted Central Pierce with a fully engulfed vehicle fire in the Target Parking lot. Six vehicles were damaged by the fire. A large section of the Target parking lot was cordoned off for some time.

Vehicle Prowl / Identity Theft

1201 39th Ave. SW - Costco

A female left her purse on the passenger front seat of her unsecured vehicle as she returned her shopping cart. When she returned to her vehicle, the purse was gone. The purse was described as a black purse with a British flag.
The victim relayed that the unknown suspect attempted a purchase at the Fred Meyer in Sumner for approximately $500.

Domestic Assault

1100-block of 23rd Street Northwest

A father and son got into a dispute while drinking and playing cards. At one point, the son mounted the father and was seen taking swings from an elevated position. However, both men refused to file statements with police.

The son was arrested anyway and taken to Puyallup jail.

Theft / UPDP / Warrant

3500 S. Meridian - Macy’s

A man was arrested after he was a spotted shoplifting from Macy's. During a search of his person following his arrest, police found both heroin and syringes.

Theft of Mail

2700-block of 24th Avenue Court Southeast

A citizen turned in mail that he found on the Crystal Ridge trail. The mail belonged to two addresses on 24th Ave Ct SE. Both victims did not realize that their mail was stolen.

Theft from Vehicle

1100-block of River Road

Sometime overnight someone entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole his cell phone.

MVTR

3000-block of East Main Avenue

Sometime overnight someone stole the victim’s Honda Motorcycle. The bike was entered as stolen.

Theft from Vehicle, MVTR (attempted)

2900-block of Fifth Avenue Northeast

Sometime overnight someone broke into the victim’s vehicle and attempted to steal it. There was ignition damage and the suspect stole a bible and plastic case.

Counterfeit

3807 S. Meridian - Dollar Tree

A man attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at the Dollar Tree. The clerk recognized it as fake and refused to accept it or give it back to the man. The man demanded the counterfeit currency until the clerk called police; then the man fled the store.

The man is described as white, in his 20s, and round 5-foot-10. He was wearing a black NY Yankees hat, a blue blazer, and white shoes. When he left the area, he fled in a Mazda MX3 model from sometime between 1991 and 1998.

Follow Up Shoplift – Suspect ID

3310 S. Meridian - Target

A man who was shopping at Target with his 4-year-old daughter was recognized by the store's Loss Prevention team as a person of interest from a previous theft involving a $900 drone on May 10.

When questioned, the man reportedly admitted to stealing the drone. He was not arrested, however, because he had his daughter with him. So the case was forwarded to the prosecutor's office.

Domestic Assault x2 / Exposing minor to DV

2505 S. Meridian - Hampton Apartments

A male was assaulted by his estranged wife and her brother after they showed up at his apartment unannounced and began to argue with him over who was going to pay the phone bill. The argument also involved a disagreement with their car too.

The victim suffered abrasions to his right arm, red marks on his chest, and scratches above his right eye and nose. This assault took place in the presence of their child.

Both suspects fled to their residence in Federal Way, therefore Federal Way Officers were requested to contact them. They were later contacted and arrested. Both were booked.

Shoplift / UPCS / UPDP

3310 S. Meridian - Target

A man reportedly used a receipt he picked up in the Target parking lot in an attempt to make a fraudulent return. Recognized as someone who has done this in the past, the man was arrested.

Following the man's arrest, police discovered he possessed meth and heroin.

Theft

1301 E. Main Ave.

The victim’s roommate let a transient female use the victim’s shower. The female ended up stealing the victim’s gold necklace. The roommate stated that he met the female down by the river.

NCO Violation

407 Valley Ave. NE

A 27-year-old male went to his ex-girlfriend’s garage to obtain some items. He then drove by her apartment before leaving, violating a no contact order that was in place. PCSO responded to his mother’s residence and took him into custody. He was booked.

Trespass / Resisting

1405 E. Main Ave. - Safeway

A drunk and belligerent woman at Safeway was asked multiple times to leave the store. She refused both Safeway staff and police. She was arrested.
