Pierce Co. Businesses Have Until Oct. 2 To Apply For COVID Relief

Among other relief programs, businesses can receive funds paying up to $24,000 in rent or mortgages.

PUYALLUP, WA — Pierce County businesses just have a few short weeks left if they want to receive financial relief for losses incurred during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the county, there are still openings available for several relief programs, including:

  • Commercial rent and mortgage assistance, which will pay up to three months rent or mortgage for businesses who have been closed or otherwise impacted by Washington's Safe Start Plan. Applicants can receive up to $8,000 per month up to a total of $24,000. Businesses can apply online here.
  • Forgivable loans to help your business retain employees. The loan sizes vary depending on the number of full time employees each business has, with $5,000 loans for the smallest businesses, up to $20,00 for large businesses. Forgivable loan applications can be found here.
  • Grants to be reimbursed up to 50 percent of expenses related to Safe Start regulations. Pierce County will pay back half of the costs of masks, cleaning equipment, or other expenses businesses incurred while getting up to code. That application can also be found online here.

All programs are being funded through the federal CARES Act. More information on CARES spending in Pierce County can be found on the county's website here.
