Pierce County Sheriff Employee Infected With Coronavirus: PCSD

A tweet from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department says an employee has tested positive for coronavirus. They're home and recovering.

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A civilian employee of the Pierce County Sheriff's Department has been infected with the new coronavirus, according to a tweet by the sheriff's office.

The employee is home and doing well, the sheriff's office said, adding the civilian worked in a "non-uniform capacity."

The employee's job duties involve very limited public contact, the tweet said, adding that they do not work in the jail.

A News Tribune report says another employee who was in close contact with the employee who tested positive has been quarantined and is having their workspace sanitized.

There are currently 38 cases of the coronavirus in Pierce County.
