Pierce County Deputies Capture Horse As It Trots Down Highway

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — When a house cat commits a crime, that's a nuisance, but when a horse turns outlaw, the world takes notice.

That's why this story has rocked the normally-peaceful community of Orting— the tale of a horse and the two men charged with tracking it down and bringing it to justice.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says they got a shocking call around 3 a.m. Friday morning.

“County 508, County 529: We’ve got a horse on the highway”.

Deputies had received reports of an errant horse trotting down the Orting-Kapowsin Highway near the intersection with 288th.

Deputies say fortunately, the horse turned out to be both friendly, and fairly little, so they were able to quickly wrangle the steed and walk him to his home, where he is now safe and sound.
