Puyallup Schools To Begin Offering Summer Meals Next Month

The district has announced their plans for this year's summer meal program. Here's how it works.

PUYALLUP, WA — The Puyallup School District has announced new pick up dates and times for this year's summer meals program.

According to the district, starting July 6, families will be able to pick up 5-day meal packs at the following locations:

  • Firgrove Elementary, 13918 Meridian E, Puyallup
  • Stewart Elementary, 426 4th Ave. NE, Puyallup
  • Sunrise Elementary, 2323 39th Ave SE, Puyallup

Meal pickups will be every Tuesday from 10 - 11 a.m. The program ends August 6.

The district says each of the free meal boxes include a weeks supply of reheatable entrées, breakfast foods and sandwiches.

The need for food support has only grown after 15 months of pandemic lockdown and economic fallout. According to Feeding America, 230,440 Washington children — about one in seven — struggle with hunger.
