Puyallup Thieves Steal Toilets, Quarters, And Mail: Blotter

One of the more notable calls to Puyallup PD this week came from a mom who said her 14-year-old son stole her car, then crashed it.

PUYALLUP, WA — Puyallup officers were dispatched to an unusual variety of theft calls this past week; from a woman who stole a toilet from Walmart to the burglar who stole quarters (as in 25 cents) from Skate Tiffany's, there was no shortage of people stealing things from both residents and businesses around the city. A 14-year-old kid even stole his mom's car, then promptly crashed it.

A man who began assaulting his girlfriend, in front of their two kids and as he was driving their vehicle, ultimately crashed the car in this area. No one was hurt, but the man was arrested.

Shoplift/Resisting/False Statements/City Puyallup Warrants

611 S. Meridian - Safeway

Alert community members called police when they spotted a man shoplifting baggies at Safeway. Officers found the man across the street at the Chevron gas station and stopped to speak with him. While doing so, the man gave the officers a fake name and then tried to run while the officers were looking into his claims.

The officers found the man back at Safeway, where he was then arrested.

Involuntary Commit

2100-block of South Meridian

A female reported that her ex-boyfriend was sending suicidal messages about stepping into traffic. Officers were able to locate him on the side of SR 512, and it was confirmed that he was suicidal. He was involuntarily committed.

Trespass / Warrant

121 E. Stewart - 7-Eleven

A male was found at this business in violation of a previous trespass order. He also had a PPD warrant for trespassing. He was arrested and booked.

DUI

1100 River Rd.

A woman who was pulled over for moving violations was arrested for drunken driving after providing police with breath samples around triple the legal limit.

She reportedly told the officers she'd been out celebrating after undergoing surgery earlier in the day.

DUI / Blood Draw

900 River Rd.

An officer stopped a male driver for moving violations. The driver appeared to be heavily intoxicated, and he refused field sobriety tests before being arrested. He also refused BAC. A search warrant was authored and served for blood. The male had a previous DUI conviction and was booked.

Burglary

1113 N. Meridian Ave. - Skate Tiffany's Roller Skating & Family Fun Center

A "duck footed" and "bow legged" man broke into Skate Tiffany's on July 14 and reportedly got away with "a good amount of quarters."

MVTR (Attempted)

2700-block of South Meridian

Sometime overnight someone attempted to steal the victim’s 1987 Toyota truck. The vehicle was partially backed out of a parking stall with the ignition in the on position.

Sometime in February someone broke into the victim’s storage unit and stole several household items.

310 31st Ave. S.E. - Walmart

A 30-year-old female stole a toilet from Walmart and then lied about her name. She was booked in county. Are there toilets on OfferUp? Please tell me there isn’t a market for that…

Trespassing

310 31st Ave. S.E. - Walmart

A male trespassed at Walmart multiple times during the day. He was arrested by an officer and administratively booked.

DWLS

3100 S. Meridian

An officer made a traffic stop on a male driver. As the driver was pulling to a stop his two passengers bailed from the moving vehicle and ran south. The officer stayed with the vehicle and driver. He advised that he did not know his passengers, he was only giving them a ride home after they attended a party for his mother-in-law. (Likely story?!?)

The driver was cited for DWLS. The other two subjects were not located.

DUI/Resisting Arrest

1100 N. Meridian

After he was stopped for speeding, a man became aggressive with a Puyallup officer, attempting physical intimidation. Refusing to follow the officer's commands, the man then physically resisted arrest but was ultimately taken to the ground and eventually booked.

A warrant for a blood draw was later served.

DV Assault

1200-block of 21st Street Southeast

A woman called 911 to report her boyfriend pushed her during an argument. At the scene, police learned the woman was actually the aggressor and had poked her boyfriend in the eye with her finger. Both the woman and her boyfriend were intoxicated, but the woman was arrested and taken to jail.

Recovery

700-block of Fourth Avenue Southwest

Puyallup Tribal stolen 2003 Ford Escape was recovered. The registered owner was advised, and the vehicle was removed as stolen.

Trespassing

River Walk Trail

A known female was observed on the River Walk Trail. The officer knew that she was trespassed from the trail and had a Puyallup warrant for trespassing. She was arrested and booked.

PSP Vehicle/Paraphernalia/DWLS

700-block of 43rd Avenue Southeast

An officer stopped a Toyota Camry for a temp tag violation. The female driver admitted to having a suspended license. The male passenger stated he had just purchased the vehicle yesterday on Offer Up and did not have a bill of sale or any other paperwork. The officer ran the VIN and discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Tacoma. Both occupants were arrested without incident.

The R/O responded and gave permission for the officer to search the vehicle. Suspected methamphetamine and pipes were found. They were booked.

Assault DV, Malicious Mischief DV

300-block of Fifth Street Southwest

A 37-year-old female assaulted her husband by pushing and slapping him. She also broke a coin jar in the process. Both were arguing about their pending divorce. She was booked.

NCO Violation, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

400-block of Second Street Northeast

A female got into an argument with her soon to be ex-husband. She had spent the night with him in violation of the restraining order. She was also in possession of methamphetamine. She was booked.

False Statements/Warrants

800-block of Seventh Street Northwest

A male was stopped for a bicycle helmet violation. He repeatedly lied about his name. The officer finally convinced him to identify himself correctly. He had a warrant out of King County for VUCSA $15,000.00 and DOC, no bail. He was arrested for making false statements and booked.

DV Mal Misch/Expose Minor to DV

900-block of 13th Street Southwest

A female was involved in an argument with her sister and father. She punched holes in the walls and doors of the house. There were several young children present during the argument and vandalism. She was arrested and booked.

Hit And Run/NVOL

701 43rd Ave. S.E.

A mother called police after her 14-year-old son snuck out of their home and stole her car after she'd gone to bed. When officers arrived to speak with the woman, she was on the phone with her son — who'd just crashed the car at a nearby church.

Another officer assisting with the call found the boy, whose foot was stuck between the parking brake and dashboard as a result of the crash. The officer helped free the boy, who apparently had run into two large pieces of landscaping timber.

The mother requested the son be charged for his delinquency, so officers took him to Remann Hall.

400-block of Second Street Northeast

A male driver was stopped for driving without headlights during hours of darkness. He had warrants through Pacific and Puyallup for DWLS. His current driving status is DWLS. He was also found to be intoxicated and arrested for DUI. Breath results were 0.208 & .208. He was booked.

Littering

300 S. Meridian

A male drank a beer in Pioneer Park and then threw his can on the grass. He was also spitting out all his peanut shells on the ground. He was cited.

Malicious Mischief

3200-block of 30th Avenue Southeast

Between 10:30 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. someone broke out the front window to the victim’s residence.

Theft from Vehicle

400-block of 29th Street Northeast

Between July 12 and 13 someone broke into the victim’s work truck and stole surveyor equipment.

Dangerous Weapon/Warrants

600-block of 17th Avenue Southwest

A male was contacted as an unwanted person. He had multiple warrants and was arrested. During a search incident to arrest an officer located a spring assisted knife. Due to jail space he was handed over to Tacoma PD for his warrant and cited for the dangerous weapon.

100-block of 35th Avenue Southeast

A victim reported that her vehicle window had been smashed and her iPad, backpack and work binders had been stolen.

During the same time period as the above entry another vehicle was also prowled. A wallet was stolen, which contained a driver’s license, credit cards etc. An officer processed the vehicle and recovered finger prints for evidence.

400-block of Valley Avenue Northeast

A male reported his 1999 Mazda MX-5 stolen from Meridian Point Apts. During the investigation the officer discovered the vehicle had been run by PCSO at a vacant house on 07-15. The officer checked the address and located the vehicle. It was returned to registered owner.

South Hill Mall

While checking on a vehicle prowl complaint at the mall, officers contacted a male subject who was in the area, he returned w/a DOC Warrant for his arrest. He was turned over to DOC.

DV Warrant Arrest

43rd Avenue Southeast & South Meridian

While on traffic enforcement an officer stopped a male driver for expired vehicle registration. He returned w/confirmed City Puyallup DV Warrants and was booked.

MVTR

Good Sam Parking Garage

A victim reported that sometime since July 13 his '06 Cadillac STS was stolen from the parking garage. His key fob was reportedly in the vehicle which will start the car when directed.

Theft

2400-block of South Meridian

A package was stolen from the victim’s mailbox. Other neighbors have also apparently experienced recent mail thefts as well. Report to ISU.

DUI

100 31st Ave. S.E.

An officer stopped a male driver for lane travel and not having his headlights on. He was heavily intoxicated and performed field sobriety tests before being arrested. He provided breath samples ranging from .248 - .265. He was booked.

Warrant / UPDP

2400 Parkwood Blvd.

While on patrol, an officer located a male sitting in a suspicious vehicle. The male was arrested for a PPD warrant and gave consent to search his vehicle. A small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was located. He was booked.

DUI Collision / Blood Warrant

East Meeker & East Meridian

A male was traveling the wrong way on S Meridian when he collided with two parked vehicles. Two officers who were on foot patrol in the area heard the collision and responded. He was found to be impaired and DWLS, and was arrested. He refused BAC, and the officer authored and served a blood warrant. He was booked.

UPCS / Warrant

941 S. Meridian - 7-Eleven

A female was called in for being asleep in her vehicle in the parking lot. As she was getting out of her car, a baggie of heroin was spotted on her seat. She was arrested and found to have 2.5 grams of heroin and 2.5 grams of methamphetamine on her person. She was also found to have a felony DOC warrant. She was arrested and booked.

UPCS – Intent to Distribute

900 S. Meridian

An officer stopped a male driver for expired registration and failure to transfer title. A consent search of the vehicle was performed by K9 Otto and multiple drug paraphernalia items were located. The driver was placed under arrest and searched. The officer located 25 grams of heroin on his person. He was booked into PCJ. Great arrest!
