Puyallup VFW Memorial Day Ceremony Features Music, Speakers

The program is set for Sunday, May 28th in the Pioneer Park Pavilion.

From VFW Post 2224: Music and ceremony highlight the remembrance program in the annual Puyallup community Memorial Day observance. The program is set for Sunday, May 28th in the Pioneer Park Pavilion, at 1 p.m.

The guest speaker is Director of Washington State Veterans Affairs, “Alfie” Alvarado-Ramos, Sergeant Major, US Army, Retired. Sergeant Major Alvarado is a member of Governor Jay Inslee’s Executive Cabinet and is charged with administering the state’s programs for military veterans.

Joining her are three outstanding musical units: the highly regarded Rogers High School Wind Ensemble, some 70 members strong, the Ferrucci Junior High School String Ensemble and the renowned, Clan Gordon Pipe Band.

Also included in the program are traditional Memorial Day ceremonies, wreath presentations, rifle salute and playing of “Taps” in tribute to the list of Puyallup’s fallen from World War I through today’s conflicts.

The program is free, appropriate for all ages, indoors, and there is ample free parking at the Pavilion in Pioneer Park, downtown Puyallup.
