Puyallup's $82 Million Police Building Headed To Ballot: Report
In November, Puyallup residents will have the opportunity to vote on a bond measure that would build a new police HQ, jail and court.
PUYALLUP, WA — A bond measure to build a new, $82.7 million public safety building is coming to Puyallup voters this November, according to a recent report by the News Tribune.
As the News Tribune explains, the new building would house the police department, the local jail and the Puyallup Municipal Court. Supporters of the project say current public safety buildings are out of date, like the current Puyallup Police building, which was built in the late 60s.
Before the measure heads to the ballot box however, the city will need to choose between a 25-year or 20-year loan. The 20-year loan would add $271 annually in property taxes to a medium-priced home, $239 for the 25-year-old, the Tribune reported.
