PUYALLUP, WA — A new ordinance designed to tamp down on illegal street racing is now in effect for the City of Puyallup.

The ordinance is called Stay Out of Areas of Racing, or SOAR, and outlaws attending or participating in street races at three specific areas, referred to in the ordinance as "No Racing Zones." They are:

  • Levee Road
  • Industrial Way
  • Valley Avenue

Under the ordinance, the zones not only include the roadway, but any connecting sidewalks, entryways or parking lots alongside these trouble spots.
